The development of medical technology solutions and innovative medical processes requires early testing in realistic scenarios. The Mannheim Medical Transfer Center provides industry and research partners with an infrastructure in which novel products can be trained in realistic scenarios and process data can be collected for simulation purposes. The centrepiece of the infrastructure is an experimental hybrid operating room for technical testing.

The Transfer Centre was already established in 2019 and is located in Cubex 41 on the campus of the University Hospital in Mannheim. The 63sqm hybrid operating room is complemented here by preparation and control rooms, as well as meeting rooms and lecture halls. By networking the medical equipment in the operating room, all data can be centrally recorded. If the amount of data is large enough, it is also possible to evaluate it afterwards with the help of artificial intelligence and thus identify potential for improvement in the day-to-day running of the clinic.
