Real-world hybrid operating room

The experimental hybrid operating room for your development

At the location of the Clinical Health Technologies department—in the middle of the University Medical Center Mannheim campus—an experimental hybrid operating room serves as a central component of the infrastructure and provides a technology development platform. This enables the development and testing of medical technology innovations and processes in a clinical environment. This early work in a realistic scenario facilitates the transfer of developments into actual clinical application.

The hybrid operating room is also made available to companies as part of projects with the Clinical Health Technologies department.

The hybrid operating room is equipped with, among other things, a latest-generation X-ray-compatible operating table, surgical lighting, and a Siemens Artis Zeego. This enables not only experiments on phantoms, but also technical trials. It is thus possible to create scenarios for testing a system or reviewing an idea. Depending on availability, specialists with experimental experience can be consulted.
