The research area »Health Technologies and Processes« is part of thes Fraunhofer-Instituts for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation IPA  in Stuttgart.

At our locations in Stuttgart, Mannheim, and Bayreuth, we are in direct contact with clinics and high-profile startups. Thanks to close, multidisciplinary cooperation both internally and with partners at our respective locations, we can offer a full range of services from product idea to evaluation.

Dr.-Ing. Jens Langejürgen

Jens Langejürgen was born in Bad Oeynhausen in 1981 and studied physics at RWTH Aachen University from 2002. He wrote his thesis on determining core body temperature using heat flux sensors. He then worked on methods for photoacoustic temperature measurement at the back of the eye. In 2009, he decided to pursue a doctorate in electrical engineering and measurement technology at Leibniz University Hannover on the topic of organic trace gas analysis. He passed his doctoral thesis with distinction and received the NiedersachenMetall Foundation's sponsorship award for outstanding scientific work.

After a year as a postdoc at the Centre for Analytical Science at Loughborough University, he took over the Biomedical Sensors and Microsystems Group in 2016 and is now head of the “Health Technologies and Processes” research area.
